3. Sportster Final Drives

3.1 SPORTSTER - TRANSMISSION PULLEYS

SuperMax manufacturers Transmission Pulleys for "Sportsters" that fit from 1952 to present. The splines for the early and late 4 and 5 speeds and are available in the three different pulley tooth counts. We have 27, 28 and 29 Tooth Pulleys. If you desire to change the gear ratio on a factory drive or if you wish to convert your chain drive "Sportster" to belt drive conversion. The maintenance on a belt drive is less than 1/10th that of a chain drive. No oil or lubrication is required and the vibration factor is much lower than the chain drive counterpart. In an overall situation the belt drive will save you money and a lot of maintenance and oily grunge all over you, your bike, your gear, and last but not least, your passenger.

If you own a factory installed drive chances are you don't like the gear ratio that they have selected for you. We can help you in a variety of ways. Our Transmission Pulleys will weigh much less than the cast iron pulleys offered with the factory installed drives and the variety of ratios should help some. The rear wheel pulleys that we make are also of a Poly Construction and wear for a long time. When considering gear ratio changes SuperMax has a large selection, so the motorcycle will perform to your satisfaction. If you have a 4 speed and keep reaching for 5th gear, your bike probably geared too low. If you ride a 5 speed and are looking for 6th gear, your bike probably geared too low. The 4 speed and the 5 speed are 1 to 1 in top gear.
