SuperMax belt drives carry a two year warranty on all belt drive parts (including the belts) as long as the instructions for alignment and tensioning have been followed. When a SuperMax primary belt drive is properly installed, the two year guarantee with unlimited milage will provide you with worry free service that cannot be matched by any other belt drive. All Super Max primary drives are relatively easy to install.
In addition to the longevity of these belt drives, they are virtually impervious to sand and grit. SuperMax pulleys are constructed with a material that is similar to the Poly-Chain © belts. They get along famously. The engine heat never gets to the belt, because the SuperMax poly pulley does not transfer heat to the belt as an aluminum or steel pulley does. This is another reason to buy SuperMax belt drives.
The factory installed primary belt drives use a compensator pulley and other components that have a very high failure rate. The SuperMax design for these machines has proven to be the "magic answer" to this repetitious and expensive problem. We have replaced thousands of the factory primary drives, and in recent years, SuperMax has increased the diameter of the roll pins, so our great pulleys are stronger than ever!
Currently, SuperMax offers primary belt drives for 1936 to 1984 swing arm and ridid frame motorcycles. On the earlier models of the kick start variety, we offer the Silent Drives that weighs a mere 5 pounds. They are quiet when shifting or the clutch is dis-engaged, and will make your engine response much quicker due to the ultra light weight pulleys. These drives are made with the correct center distance so you don't have to mill out your tranny plate and cave in the frame to make them fit. We offer a drive for each installation that is for the model machine that you have. We do not sell a "one size fits all" drive.
We have had an overwhelming number of requests for a primary drive for the later model "Softail" motorcycles. There are many drives out there on the market for these bikes, but none of them will do the job like SuperMax. We have had calls from numerous Harley dealers wanting us to produce these drives as it seems that the old 'rubber' machinery belts just don't satisfy their customers. We knew this in the early 70's, as that is where we started out and quickly were made aware that a machinery belt belongs where they were intended to be used. Not on the performance type Harley Davidson. In order to get a rubber belt to be some what reliable, they must be between 3 and 4 inches wide. These do not fit inside of the primary covers and the rider is some what at risk of injury.
SuperMax did not manufacture belt drives these later bikes because the poly-belts
will not run in oil, and the wet style clutches were about all that were
available until recently (I call recently 5 to 10 years). There are several
companys out there now that offer pretty good dry style clutch systems that
aren't the older "ON OR OFF" clutches. Now there are several companys that
offer these better operating clutches that are both smooth and quite reliable.
The choice of clutches is up to the customer as some seem O.K. and others are
very jerky and sudden when being engaged.
NOTE: THESE NEW DRIVES SHOULD BE AVAILABLE BY APRIL OF 2002. AT LAST, A DECENT BELT DRIVE
FOR ALL OF THE SEPARATE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE MOTORCYCLES.
(12 13/16" CENTER-DISTANCE MACHINES)
AS FAR AS WE KNOW WE WILL NOT OFFER A PRIMARY DRIVE FOR THE FXR STYLE MACHINES
OR FOR SPORTSTERS.
Remember, our motto is ... "BUY YOUR LAST BELT DRIVE FIRST"!
